Sports Injury Treatment

Sportsman feeling backache at a park

Sports and exercise can cause both acute injuries and problems that develop gradually from repetitive loading or overuse. Common complaints include joint pain, muscle or tendon pain, stiffness, restricted movement, and difficulty returning to normal training or recreational activities.

Evaluation is directed toward identifying the injured structures and determining whether conservative care is appropriate. Depending on the findings, treatment may include chiropractic manipulation or mobilization, soft tissue treatment, exercise, taping, activity modification, and other appropriate conservative treatments. Care is individualized according to the patient's injury, goals, and response to treatment.

Returning to Activity Safely

The goal of sports injury treatment is not only to reduce pain, but also to restore movement, function, and tolerance for activity. Treatment recommendations may be adjusted as the patient progresses and begins returning to exercise, training, or competition.

When an injury requires additional evaluation, we can coordinate digital X-rays, MRI, physical therapy, orthopedic or sports medicine consultation, or other appropriate care.
