Work Injury Treatment

Dangerous accident during work

Workplace injuries can involve the neck, back, shoulders, extremities, muscles, joints, or nerves and may interfere with both daily activities and the ability to perform regular job duties. Advanced Chiropractic & Massage provides evaluation and conservative treatment for work-related musculoskeletal injuries covered by Washington State Labor & Industries (L&I) and self-insured employers.

Depending on the examination findings, treatment may include chiropractic manipulation or mobilization, soft tissue treatment, exercise, activity modification, massage therapy, and other appropriate conservative care. When additional evaluation or treatment is needed, we can coordinate referrals for imaging, physical therapy, specialist consultation, injections, or surgical evaluation.

Washington L&I Claim Management

Whether you are opening a new L&I claim or already have an active claim, our office can help coordinate appropriate treatment, documentation, referrals, and communication related to your care.

Dr. McCay can serve as the Attending Provider for appropriate Washington L&I claims involving musculoskeletal injuries. The Attending Provider helps coordinate care, documents the worker's medical progress, evaluates work capacity, and communicates restrictions or modified-duty recommendations when appropriate.

He also provides chiropractic treatment for injured workers whose claims are being managed by another Attending Provider, such as a primary care physician, occupational medicine provider, physiatrist, or surgeon. In those cases, chiropractic care can be provided as part of a coordinated treatment plan while the Attending Provider continues to manage the claim and overall work status.

Activity Prescription Forms (APFs) may be used to document work status, functional capacities, physical restrictions, and treatment recommendations. These forms help communicate with the injured worker, employer, claim manager, and other professionals involved in return-to-work planning.

Our office can also help coordinate care when additional imaging, physical therapy, specialist evaluation, or another form of treatment is needed during recovery.

Can a Chiropractor Be the Attending Provider for an L&I Claim?

Yes. Washington L&I allows doctors of chiropractic to serve as attending or concurrent care providers for appropriate workers' compensation claims involving musculoskeletal conditions of the spine or extremities. Chiropractic treatment is directed toward recovery, restoration of function, and helping the injured worker safely return to appropriate activity and work.
