Chiropractic and whiplash

Hi my name is Dr. Greg Beasley and I am a chiropractor in Everett Wa. I have been in practice since 1993.  Eleven of those years here in Everett.

One large part of my chiropractic practice is seeing individuals who have been involved in a whiplash type injury.  Some of these are new whiplash victims and some of the patients were involved in the whiplash injury years ago.  On a weekly basis I will see multiple new patients who will present with neck pain.  When I ask when the pain started I will have at least one new a week say something like this, “oh, about 5 years ago when I was in a whiplash accident.”  We then go into the history and I will usually learn that this individual waited to start care until about three after the collision because either they thought the pain would just go away or they were told to stay home and rest.  The rest of the conversation will tend to be how since that time they have been chasing a cure for their neck pain.

Two thoughts always occur to me with these patients.  One is to try to let people know that the sooner they start chiropractic care for their whiplash the better. And the second is that after the whiplash the worst thing to do (unless you are broken) is to rest too much.  If someone presents to a chiropractor very soon (within a week) after the collision, the probability of them returning to a pre accident status (in my opinion after 18 years of doing this) is very good.

If you have been in a whiplash type injury recently please do not hesitate to obtain chiropractic care as soon as you can.  Not only will the treatment help you but the education on what to do and what not to do will help also.  If you are one of those many people who had the whiplash years ago and think there is no hope, there is hope.  It just takes a little longer to obtain long term relief from care and you have to do a lot more stretches and home therapy to get better.

If you live in the Everett area and are looking for a chiropractor it would be an honor to meet you and discuss your neck pain from any type of injury.  Give us a call today and we will set up an appointment for you today.
